Description:

This high quality sailing yacht has been meticulously maintained and her owner has no doubts she is ready to head out into the Pacific again. If you have never seen an Amel, it is hard to appreciate the thought and consideration that has gone into her design. The Amel 46 Santorin is a purpose built passage maker, designed and constructed to effectively deal with the realities of ocean voyaging and long term liveaboard. Watertight collision bulkheads, fully weather protected helm station, full sized engine room with complete and easy access to all maintainable systems, low maintenance exterior, extremely functional interior, lots of storage space both on deck and below, are just some of the features offered by Amel on all models. This yacht is absolutely ready in all respects to step aboard and continue cruising having just completed an NZ/New Cal/Aus passage in the last few months. She comes highly recommended for the serious offshore sailor and now presents the opportunity you've been waiting for. New Batteries, recent rig replacement, Nav Electronics upgrade are just a few of the items that have been done of late and will serve the new owner well into the future. This Santorin is ready to go for a circumnavigation without having to invest heavily in her for many years. Apart from all the usual Amel features such as electric furling genoa and main sail electric furling, mizzin electric furling, watertight doors, enclosed engine room accessible only from cockpit, downwind running rig (invaluable for trade wind sailing), she goes with a watermaker, bow-thruster and a full safety equipment package for offshore cruising. The Amel Santorin, was built by Chantiers Amel, La Rochelle, France in 1996 (still producing some of the highest quality cruising yachts available) and designed by Jacques Carteau. Launched in 1996, with a GRP hull, deck and superstructure. Ketch rig with electric in-mast mainsail furling and manual in-mast furling for mizzen. Electric roller furling for foresail. Very easily handled with all lines and controls in the centre cockpit, including an anchor remote. En-suite Owner´s cabin aft with a double berth and En-suite Guest cabin forward with double berth. Pilot berth in saloon. Very well equipped for long distance cruising. Powered by a Volvo Penta diesel and has the Amel retractable bowthruster. Extremely well looked after and presented in great condition.

The engine room, located directly beneath the cockpit, is accessed by a large hatch in the cockpit sole. It is watertight, ventilated, sound insulated with easy access to all equipment. There is a huge locker beneath the port side cockpit seat. The life raft and survival equipment, are located on deck on the aft starboard rail. Two large lockers (used for sails, dock lines, spare anchors) are located in the forepeak and also accessed from on deck. Finally there is a huge lazarette in the stern that can take a dinghy, folding bicycles, shopping cart, diving equipment and other cruising amenities if you so choose. Stepping out of the safe centre cockpit and down the three companionway stairs you have the galley to port and the well equipped side facing nav station to starboard. There is a stool at the nav station allowing access to all points. Forward into the main salon you have a long lounge seat just to starboard of the centre-line and behind this there is another large sea berth with a large storage locker beneth. Lots access to areas that are normally built in by production builders, makes for easy servicing of all manner of things.
Forward from here you have a very large hanging and storage locker to starboard and the guests head to port. Stepping forward again into the Vee berth you have one large single to port and another single to starboard. These could be made into a large double with a little thought. Lockers and shelve abound throughout the yacht for all manner of cruising kit. Access to the genuine drop down Amel bow thruster is forward again, along with the anchor locker. Coming back through the saloon into the aft owners cabin you have 2 x bookshelves over a deep storage area (Owner currently uses for his extensive sailing library, tools, Portable Honda Generator and spare parts). Opposite here is another deep storage area with hanging space. The owner's stateroom is all the way aft and is accessed by a passageway on the starboard side of the engine room. Remarks:
With a powerful bow thruster and controls for the anchor at the helm, the start and end of each sail will be accomplished very easily, even for a shorthanded crew. Once the anchor is down, wide decks make great places for sun-worshipping and the sheltered cockpit with optional removable table provides a good space to entertain. This boat has so many extra modifications and additions, of the best standard, including those recently added for voyage NZ/New Cal/Aust, you will most impressed on inspection. The 46 Santorin is an ideal and manageable size for most cruising minded sailors, and offers a fantastic offshore/liveaboard layout with lovely decor. Anyone already familiar with the line of Amel yachts will also be familiar Amel's reputation for excellent overall quality, and superbly engineered systems. The company also offers aftermarket support second to none in the marine industry, making the Amel a highly attractive choice for any sailor, but especially for someone seriously intent on cruising.
