The Jarkan 10.5 sits in the range of yachts that have impressed owners in the past for their sailing abilities along with the comfort of the centre cockpit, aft double cabin layout. These yachts have been cruising our coast and further afield since conception. There have been many upgrades in recent times as you will read below, and if given a fresh topsides paint, she will present very nicely.
Below decks you have the large aft cabin, starboard side Nav station, big saloon table and second settee to port. Forward is the Vee berth. At the rear of the galley to port you do have easy access to the engine bay via the work room cabin.

Hull Material
The vessel is powered by a diesel engine close-coupled to an HBW mechanical gearbox. The engine is a Nanni 3.100HE three cylinder, naturally aspirated diesel engine, based on a Kubota block and is rated to produce 21kW (29hp) @ 3600 rpm. The gearbox turns a 25mm Ø duplex stainless steel shaft that is sealed internally with a water lubricated, carbon faced PSS type gland and supported externally in a cast bronze skeg fitted with a water lubricated rubber bearing. The propeller is a three blade, 400mm Ø fixed pitch bronze wheel. The propeller shaft is fitted with a 2x zinc collar anodes. A single 115 litre SS fuel tank is mounted vertically on the centre-line, aft in the machinery space under the cockpit and fills from a marked filler on the port cockpit coaming. A plastic sight tube is fitted. The supply line has a closing valve at the tank connection and is plumbed to the auxiliary engine through a water separating fuel filter in the machinery space. Engine access is via the workshop/storeroom cabin to the rear of the galley on the port side. Portable oil pump, manual.

Galley is to portside of the companionway and features a large refrigeration unit, Gas cooker and Stainless steel sink. Storage above and below bench top. Sliding doors give access to lockers above cooker and refrigeration.
Water system: Each tank fills from the tank top and the supply is reticulated through a 12v pump to all outlets including a hot water service mounted under the aft double berth.
Portable gas BBQ (can be rail mounted).
Refrigeration is supplied by an electrically powered Danfoss compressor in conjunction with a Danfoss eutectic unit. The thermostat is mounted on the front wall of the engine compartment.

Stepping down the companionway you have the starboard side nav station with access through to the aft cabin here. On the way through to this cabin you find the head/shower compartment including the vanity unit. Once in the aft cabin the main double berth runs to portside with a large flat storage area across the aft of the vessel. She has a hanging locker and other storage compartments including under the double berth. Above the cabin is a large opening deck hatch for both natural lighting and air movement. Back out in the saloon the galley is to port and workshop/storage cabin is aft of here. The saloon seating is to starboard around the large timber saloon table. This is in a U shaped configuration and opposite this you have a settee to port that can double as a single berth. Lockers above and behind seating can store all manner of items needed for cruising. The forward Vee berth is a standard arrangement and has an infill to convert from twin singles to a double berth. This is behind a door so privacy is assured as is the aft cabin.
A hot and cold water shower is fitted in the WC along with the vanity basin and storage under basin.
A TMC electric marine head (toilet) is fitted between the Nav Station and the aft cabin., supplied salt water by the salt water system. The discharge from this toilet is pumped to a holding tank located behind the wall of the head and then to join the sink discharge.

Ground Tackle
The main anchor is a 16kg (35lb) galvanised Bruce type anchor connected to 60 metres of 10mm short link galvanised chain with a galvanised shackle. The tackle is stowed in a self-draining locker with opening hatch.
The anchor is carried in a single stainless steel stem head roller and lifted by a 12v Muir 1250 Storm vertical chain windlass mounted through the fore-deck deck. It is controlled from a foot control on the fore-deck. In order to power the windlass, the winch power switch and the associated circuit breaker is above the Nav Station.
A rope spring is carried in the same locker and a 12v salt water powered deck wash outlet with hose is located in the same compartment.
A small galvanised Danforth anchor with a stainless steel chain pennant and galvanised shackle is carried on the port aft quarter rail. It is suitable for a tender or lightweight stern anchor.

A 12v Rule 1100 submersible bilge pump with float switch is fitted in the keel sump.
A manual pump is fitted in the machinery space and draws from the saloon keel sump.

The vessel is wired for 240vAC and 12vDC.
The AC system is powered through an IP34 type fitting on the port side of the machinery space as a connection to shore mains. The supply has an earth leakage circuit breaker fitted and has over-current breakers for each supply circuit on the distribution panel in the saloon.
A Sea XP Compact inverter/charger is mounted in the machinery space as an additional 1.1kW of AC power supply.
The DC system is powered by three 12v Victron sealed maintenance free batteries stowed under the companionway steps forward in the machinery space for general house supply and a single 12v Delkor unit for engine starting.
The batteries are charged by the Sea XP Compact 240/12v 45 amp battery charger, the engine driven 60 amp charging alternator and trickle charged from the three 130 watt solar panels through a solar Victron MPPT charge regulator.
A Xantrex Elite battery monitor display is fitted on the battery isolator switch panel.

Sail Inventory
The mainsail is slab reefed in lazy jacks onto the boom and held in an acrylic canvas bag and a genoa is furled to the forestay on a Furlex 200S headsail furler. Additional sails are asymmetrical spinnaker, asymmetrical spinnaker and spare headsail.
Mast / Rigging
She has a deck stepped mast with stainless steel compression post to the keel frame and is a masthead sloop. The painted aluminium mast is strengthened by two sets of in-line spreaders and supported by fore & aft lower stays, continuous intermediate and upper side stays, single back stay and a single forestay.
The boom is painted aluminium and an unpainted aluminium whisker pole is stowed on the fore-deck.

Deck Gear
Three chromed plated bronze Canon halyard winches are mounted on the cabin top at the base of the mast.
A pair of Canon 26 self-tailing primary sheet winches is mounted on the cockpit coamings along with a pair of Canon 24 secondary sheet winches.
A 3.75kg LPG storage bottle is mounted beneath the G & T seat at the stern of the boat. Another 3.75kg bottle is carried next in a plastic drum next to it.

At first glance she looks to be a bigger yacht than her 10.5 m length due to the high topsides design and centre cockpit. She has easy access around the deck and a nice large seat along the rear of the aft deck. Sitting here while the autopilot takes care of the heading, you have good vision forward and would make a nice place for sundowners or watching the sunrises.
The boat is being offered for sale after owners plans have changed. They had some cosmetics to do yet but on the whole they have most of the expensive things already done like rigging and electronics.
